home concerts past seasons soloists repertoire future seasons masterclass the orchestra founder objectives simon wright sponsorship patrons orchestra in residence “the city of york can be proud of the orchestra that bears its name.” york’s renowned guildhall orchestra is one of the leading orchestral ensembles in the north of england. it is an exceptionally fine and large amateur/volunteer symphony orchestra. regularly working with top class international soloists, it is capable of giving high-quality performances of some of the most demanding large-scale works in the orchestral repertoire. july 14th, 2018 - the ygo will be supporting the leeds festival chorus in a concert of music for a summer evening in ripon cathedral. click here for more information. 38th concert season. our final concert this season took place in the barbican to a large audience - many thanks to everyone who came to support us and hear the wonderful playing of our soloist, jack liebeck. jack also gave a masterclasses on the sunday following the concert to six very lucky young violinists, giving them a one-to-one session as they play their prepared pieces for jack to review and advise on technique and interpretation later on this season, the orchestra will appear again, accompanying the fabulous leeds festival chorus in a concert to be performed in ripon cathedral on saturday 14th july. see below for more details. plans are also coming together for our next season, which will include two extra concerts - a visit to helmsley for an all mozart concert w chamber orchestra made up of regular ygo players, and a family concert in january 2019. visit our next season page for more details. do please come along and support this splendid group of players - we look forward to seeing you at one of our concerts!
